Positive and healthier living is something most people would aspire towards, but for many people, it can feel extremely difficult. When you’re faced with a busy lifestyle and perhaps a stressful job, more positive daily living might feel difficult to achieve.
With optimism, it’s a lot about the little things, and those small moments that make a difference. You don’t need to focus too much on avoiding the bad, as stress can easily happen, but it’s more about how you handle the stress, and choosing to focus on the positives more than the negatives.
Here are four tips for you.
1. Try to Get into a Good Routine that Works for You
There’s nothing worse than a day that begins badly, such as oversleeping, running late, skipping breakfast and feeling stressed for the rest of the day. A more positive day can come from having a rewarding routine that allows you to accomplish everything you wish to accomplish. Think about a routine that works for you, as what works for others may not necessarily be beneficial to you.
You may want to think about:
- Your sleep wake schedule and what time you find it easiest to wake up, allowing you enough time to get ready without any stress
- Avoiding the snooze button so you feel less drowsy
- What times of the day you feel most productive to get things done
- How you can comfortably fit exercise and healthy eating into your day with proper planning
2. Start a Gratitude Journal
Reminding yourself what you have to be grateful for, rather than all the things you don’t have, is a sure step towards more positivity. It can help you to think differently about your daily routine and lifestyle so that you can concentrate on those things that matter.
Starting (or ending) the day with a gratitude journal entry can enable you to self-reflect and get your thoughts down on paper regarding all the things you have to feel positive for.
3. Give Back
A lot of positive living can come from what you do for others rather than what you do for yourself. If you’re looking for a more rewarding daily life, you might want to see what you can do to help out others in need or improve encounters with people you meet along the way. Things like voluntary work, choosing to donate to charities, helping the homeless or even just encouraging more positive interactions through a smile, can all help your days to feel more worthwhile.
4. Take Care of Yourself
Every little thing you do throughout the day has the power to make you feel better or worse. On the health side, you should make time to drink enough water, eat healthy food, and make sure you’re up and active during the day. If you work at a desk, this can be difficult, but it can be as simple as standing up and walking around for a minute or two at regular intervals to keep movement going.
Also make sure to get enough sleep and indulge in what makes you happy! Your mind and body will thank you for it.
