As a beginner, you might think that Dota 2 Kunkka is not a straightforward and easy-to-use hero; however, after reading this guide, you will be able to use the hero to his full potential and also use his abilities and combos with ease.
Kunkka’s abilities go well with each other, and to make it easy for anyone to use his combos, we will be mastering his third spell, “X marks the spot.”
X Marks the spot
This is Kunkka’s third ability. Use this spell to target a friendly or enemy hero; this will mark the hero’s position. Trigger the spell again to return the hero to their marked position.
X Marks has a fairly decent cooldown and a low mana cost. We will learn how to use the rest of Kunkka’s abilities by combining them with X Marks.
Using Torrent with X Marks
Kunkka summons a Torrent, and after a short delay, it will deal magical damage, stun, and slow the enemies.
To negate the problem of missing torrents on the enemies due to that short delay, follow this combo. Use X Marks on the enemy hero, use torrent on the marked position, and recall the enemy back to their marked position just when the torrent is about to hit. This is the easiest way to land a torrent on your enemies, 100% of the time.
Using Ghostship with X Marks
Ghostship is Kunkka’s ultimate ability. Use the ability to summon a ship that will deal magic damage and stun enemy units in a huge area. Ghostship has a delay of 3.1 seconds before impacting the enemy.
Similar to our Torrent combo, use X Marks on the enemy, summon Ghostship to the marked position, and recall the enemy as soon as the ship is about to hit. Once the ability lands and stuns the enemies, you can follow up by using Torrent immediately. This entire combo does a total of 960 magical damage and disables the enemies for up to 3 seconds.
Using Tidebringer, Boots of Travel, and other possibilities with X Marks.
Tidebringer adds increased damage and a cleave effect to your auto-attack. During the mid-to-late game, when you have built up enough physical damage, use X Marks on yourself, walk up to the nearest creep wave, one-shot the entire wave, and return to your original position.
This combo, along with Boots of Travel, will allow you to single-handedly push any lane with ease. X Marks on yourself, teleport to your tower or a friendly unit, quickly clear the wave, and get back to your safe position.
You can also use this ability on your teammates to help them initiate a team fight or steal a rune.
