Hybrid manicure is a popular choice among women. no wonder why: it enables everyone to have aesthetic, nicely-shaped nails for a reasonably long time. It’s one of the most long-lasting methods. While it can stay intact for up to 7 months if you find an outstanding professional, it will most likely last around 4 months with bits of them falling off after that period.
And then what, running to the beautician to repair, take off, or do the filling? Possibly, but if you lack the time, you can take them off yourself. Wouldn’t it be convenient to take them off at home, with no special equipment and with minimal hassle? How to do it?
First, you don’t have to worry that it will weaken the nail plate. Hybrids do weaken your nails, but the process of removing them does not add up to the damage. Nevertheless, you must remember to never remove it at one go, this will surely damage your fingernails.
What Do You Need?
- Nail polish remover with acetone or 100% acetone
- Nail drill bits or nail file
- Rounded cotton swabs and a foil OR a small bowl
- Hands and nails moisturising cream
How to Take Those Hybrids Off?
The whole process will take you about 30 minutes, so have your favourite show ready. Start with filing off the top of your hybrids. Make sure that you remove all the glitter and plastic application, they are acetone-resistant. Once you’ve done that you can proceed in either one of the two ways below.
- Soak your fingers in the bowl with acetone for about 5-7 minutes.
- Soak cotton swabs into acetone, wrap it around your fingers, wrap it with foil and leave for about 15-17 minutes.
The first option is slightly more likely to irritate your skin, so you have to consider whether it’s right for you.
After the acetone dissolves, you can remove the hybrid without pain. Remember that you do not need to push very hard.
There’s only one thing left now: aftercare. Treat your hands and nails to a high-quality hand moisturizer. Ideally, leave a thick layer on your hands for up to 10 minutes. Then, polish your nails to the desired shape and put some transparent conditioner.
What Nail Conditioner Should You Use After?
Be careful with plate-strengthening conditioners. Some of them initially weakened the plate, and your plate is already weakened and does not need that. Make sure that you give your nails some rest and apply gentle nail strengthening solutions, like those containing Vitamin D.
The whole process may turn out to be a pleasant self-care routine. You may always take off hybrids yourself or visit a beautician, which is also a nice, relaxing experience that you deserve. Additionally, remember that imperfect nails happen and there’s no pressure for you to fix them immediately. Find a suitable time when you’re not too busy and don’t let it mess up your schedule.
